Round 3 - Return of the Meme
General Rules- Personal attacks and any kind of abusive trolling, hate speech, or bullying are obviously forbidden. Anon comments violating this rule will be deleted, signed in members will be banned.
- If your comment is deleted/screened/frozen and you don't know why, please email the mod at hhanonmeme@gmail.com. (If you notice it happening to your comments and you know they're safe, a quick email for the mod to come and unscreen them would be helpful also).
- Prompt posts will close to new prompts at 3,000 comments.
Prompting Rules
- One prompt per comment.
- Please follow the correct format (see below).
- Include trigger warnings in the subject line. Use your discretion and please be considerate.
- If your prompt is missing something, such as a subject or a warning, repost it in it’s entirety. It is not enough to reply to your own comment with the missing information. The mod will delete the previous duplicate comment.
- Multiple fills of the same prompt by different author!anons are allowed.
- If for any reason you start a fill but feel you can't finish the WIP you've created, and if you're happy to let someone finish it for you, put it up for HH Meme Fostering and Adoption.
- Prompts for projects other than Horrible Histories (ie. Spy, Gavin and Stacy, Rev, St. Trinian's, the O2 adverts etc., and RPF involving actors from those projects should be posted at the What? They've acted in other things?! post.
Format of Prompts
- Put [RPF] before RPF prompts.
- For crossover prompts: "[Crossover], HH Character(s)/Other Character(s), [Fandom]"
- Anyone, everyone, no one? Use "Other."
- Put [GEN] before GEN prompts, just so you don't get unwanted shipping.
- Use appropriate warnings. I'm trusting you all to know what that means.
- Don't embed any photos, videos or other media.
- Copy and paste links in full; anon comments with active coded links are marked as spam and the mod doesn't switch accounts often enough - it may be a few days before those screened comments are de-screened (see: emailing the mod a heads up if it happens).
- To make the archiving job easier, please drop a link to your fill/unprompted fic here at the fills post.
- Nothing here you fancy filling? Take a look at the unfilled prompts archived here or at Round 1 or Round 2.
That's nearly the end of the storia, for onto the scene comes our much loved meme: HAIL TO THE QUEEN OF PROMPTIA.
Re: Unprompted: Blenkinsop/Maltravers - They Owe Us A Life 7b/20
Date: 2011-11-17 05:58 pm (UTC)”I support Arsenal.” Blenkinsop said, with an arm raised.
He just glared at the major. ”Shut up, Blenkinsop.” God that felt good.
They sat quiet, until the lovely Scott said: ”So an austrian has been killed by a serb in Bosnia which means Austria might invade Serbia and the Russia will invade Austria.”
The General Major felt fuzzy inside when he spoke, thank god that he wasn't surrounded by idiots. ”Correct! Any questions?” He regretted that he had said that before it even left his mouth.
”Yes sir.” The fat seal said.
”What is it Maltravers?”
Maltravers bite his lip, utterly stupid. ”How does this involve Britain, sir?”
”Well Maltravers, who would you say is your best friend?” he asked.
Maltravers smiled and said: ”Oh Blenkinsop, sir, he's a spiffing fellow.” Of course it was, idiots stick together.
”Mm, and if I was to punch Blenkinsop in the nose...”oh yes, he would like to punch the stupid major. ”...what do you think you would do?”
Maltravers looked at him. ”Well!” He stood up, banged his fists at the table, and his eyes where suddenly darker, the General Major did not know it was because he remembered things from his youth. ”Nobody punches Blenkinsop and gets away with it.”
Blenkinsop stood up to, and for a moment he was thinking of hugging Maltravers. ”Thanks old bean!” He just shook his hand and they sat down again.
The General major nodded. ”Exactly, exactly. So Russia threatens Austria, Austria's best friend will offer support. Who is Austria's best friend?”
”Not Blenkinsop?” Maltravers asked.
How did this man even pass military school, or any school? How many teachers had hanged themselves in despair over these boys? ”No! Germany.” He stood up. ”Germany is Austria's best friend, Maltravers.”
Maltravers and Blenkinsop looked at each other, and suddenly they remembered the old rhyme that Mad-George had sang to them the first time they met. ”Austria and Germany, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!” They looked at each other, smiling, how could have they forgotten about that? How embarrassing it was, and how Blenkinsop had looked down, not wanting to look into the blue, sweet eyes.
”Yes.” He frowned, those two where more fit at playing songs about old greeks at christmas parties than the military. (although that had been funny). ”So if Russia where to attack Austria, Germany would attack Russia. But that would leave Germany undefended on the other side, so if Germany where to attack Russia, she would also have to attack France.”
”France?” Scott asked.
”Yes France! And if Germany where to attack France it would leave Belgium threatened. Belgium is our friend.” He looked around. ”So we would hop in there to defend them.”
Maltravers looked at him. ”So, we all got to go fight in a war, because of that, sir?”
General Major sighed, and rolled his eyes. ”Yes Maltravers!”
”But I might get killed, sir!”
”Yes you might Maltravers, but it will all be for a good cause.” His own health if for nothing else.
Blenkinsop asked, in his most sincere voice. ”So, where is Bosnia again?”
The General Major gave up, let his head fall into his hands. ”It doesn't matter!” He was near tears. ”Dispatch!”
”But sir...” Blenkinsop said.
”Out!” All the men in the room tried to get out, happily so since the room was getting really hot. But it wasn't easy since it was so small. But when they finally stood in the corridor they all looked at each other. ”War...” they said, looked at each other.
Scott nodded. ”For the King and Country.” he said. ”Mrs. won't be happy.” Scott had been in the Boer war too, he often talked about it, even though it had only been for a couple of months. He looked at the pair, because it was rather obvious (to him atleast) that they where in love. Did they know how much their life was going to change?
Re: Unprompted: Blenkinsop/Maltravers - They Owe Us A Life 7c/20
Date: 2011-11-17 05:59 pm (UTC)”How would you seem if you had to inform people that there was going to be a war!?” Blenkinsop said. ”And don't you ever be so adorable and protective again.” Albert smiled as they read through papers, George promised him to take him out for dinner, because the next day, when the new got out to the public, there was going to be chaos.
”I am terrible exited though.” George said. ”Going to war, finally!”
”I am not so sure it's going to be very exiting.” Albert said.
”Well, atleast we are in the same regiment.” George said and smiled.
Albert nodded. ”But we might die.”
”Yes, but you heard what the Lieutenant Scott said! It's for a good cause, for the king and country.”
Albert looked down to his papers again. ”I don't even know what the capital of Belgium is... so why do we have to protect them?”
”Now you are just being grumpy, cheer up!”
The last supper, so to speak, was wonderful. Better than they ever had, but maybe that was only how they recalled it. Blenkinsop had fish, Maltravers had lamb. The had a great wine and they sat their until they got thrown out. And they went home, had to have coffee with their landlord, who of course had heard the rumor, that there was going to be a war. And then they had sex, common, ordinary sex but still wonderful. And then they slept, tangled in each others limbs, getting sweaty. George couldn't take it so at three in the morning he tore himself from Albert, who reached for him, like a child for it's mothers hand. ”I am to hot.” George whispered to the sleeping man.
”Yes you are, I like that.” Albert mumbled. George just cursed and pulled his own blanket closer to him, kicked away Albert (who had a habit of taking over the bed) who only grunted.
They didn't expect to be shipped of so soon. They barley had time to store their possessions before they where put on a ship together with young men, just their age. Their landlord seemed said, told them to come back after the war.
”We are going to lead them, George.” Albert said. ”They expect us to be good at this, not first timers.”
George smiled. ”Everyone is a bit uneasy the first time with something new.” They sat quiet, in their now empty room. ”I wonder how it will be... killing someone.”
Albert didn't answer at first. ”I guess you won't think about it too much. Not that they are fathers and brothers... and sons.”
George shook his head. ”They aren't, the bloody germans, doesn't care about anything except for themselves.”
”We have known germans.” He said.
”Not the same thing, they where in Britain, alas they where good.” He smiled and patted Blenkinsop's back. ”Anyone who realize what a horrible country German is must be a good person. Especially when they move to the Empire.”
Blenkinsop couldn't help but laugh at that statement. ”You can't be right in the head.” He said. ”Also, if I die, it's your fault.”
Maltravers looked at him. ”You are not going to die, Albert! Not as long as I am alive.” Albert shook his head.
”I will remember that, you know.” He said. ”So you better keep that promise, or my mother is comming after you.” He smiled, and they laughed.
