- Nothing here you fancy filling? Take a look at the unfilled prompts archived here or at Round 1 or Round 2.
That's nearly the end of the storia, for onto the scene comes our much loved meme: HAIL TO THE QUEEN OF PROMPTIA.
Re: Unprompted: Blenkinsop/Maltravers - They Owe Us A Life 16b/20
Dear Albert,
if I where an emperor I would look out for my own son, not embrace him to throw me a birthday party. He will have his will though, he always will. He is not as timid as his brother, sometime I wonder if he will ever get a proper job.
But then I would be delighted to come to visit you in London. I really miss London, we must go and visit all the places we used to. If not the germans destroyed it.
Either way...
They made up plans. Great and wonderful plans that was probably never going to be accomplished. But each time Albert included little cyphers for George to solve, each one a little bit trickier than the first (really simple one) and the harder they got, the more filthy Albert dared to be. Telling George what he would like to do with him, what he would like George to do with him, and George did not fear for a second that they where to old. (even though they had been to old 16 years ago... George stopped for a moment, had he not had sex in 16 years? But it could not be, it felt like he had just... 16 years is an awfully long time.)
He spent his birthday by getting woken up all to early, but since he got coffee (good, strong coffee, how he missed that) everything was forgotten.
”Charles, I am going to meet an old friend this weekend.” he said.
”Sure.” Charles said and smiled. ”Where are you going?”
”London.” he said. Charles jumped up besides him in the bed. ”Is that alright with you?”
”Why would it not be? I get the house to myself, don't have to have you waiting for the mail every day like some lunatic.”
”Don't bring any girls over, Charles.” He said.
”No, no, I won't.” Charles said and drank some more of his tea. ”And am I the type who bring home girls?”
”I guess not.” he said. ”Should I worry about that?” he asked.
”Worry about what?” Charles looked up at his father.
”Well... will I be a grandfather? William pretends that he is courting some fair lady, and you are 27, young man.” Alright, the young man had just gotten a degree from a prestigious university and was now entitled to be a doctor, but still. George wanted the house to himself, or at least share it with a a married man and wife and little babies.
”Are you asking me if I like men, dad?”
George swallowed. ”I think I am.”
”No, dad, I don't.” he said. ”I like girls, but they don't seem to like me.” George where going to suggest that they probably would like him if he just talked to them.
”You say that like it would be normal.”
”I don't think that it's wrong.” Charles yawned. ”George Kent is... gay, as he calls it. It's 1949 after all. Just think of it, Oscar Wilde liked men, and he wrote some fantastic books. And Joseph Marlowe probably was, and Joseph Marlowe might be Shakespeare!”
George just smiled, and laughed, oh how he loved his son. ”That's good son. One should be able to love freely.”
”I didn't expect you to be so... alright with it, dad.” Charles said. ”You seem more like the old victorian moral... thingie man.”
”Well, I was in the army and at boarding school. I have seen most things.” He smiled and finished his coffee. ”I am still going to be 'old victorian moral man' on certain things though, Charlie. Like doing the dishes and not sleeping with girls until you marry them.”
”Silly man, come one, make me breakfast.” Charles left the room, with the tray with two cups.
”Find yourself a woman to do so.”
”I won't get to marry her if I don't knock her up first!” Charles yelled from the kitchen at the bottom floor.
”Then do that then!” George laughed as he was getting dressed. Silly kid.
Re: Unprompted: Blenkinsop/Maltravers - They Owe Us A Life 16c/20
”Maltravers!” Albert said and waved towards the man. He wanted to rush over to him and hug him, and kiss him, but he couldn't. ”Let me take your bag.”
”No, no, it's not heavy.” George looked at Albert, who was still as skinny as ever. ”I have missed you.” He said. They where careful not to touch each other.
”Me to, old bean.” He said. ”So, let's get on, I have arranged...”
”Hotel room, now. I need to... freshen up.” George said, Albert only nodded and got them a taxi. They didn't talk at all. They where just quiet. Stared at each other. Longed for each other, but unable to touch each other. Albert probably gave the driver to much money, but who cared?
Albert checked in, they got a weird look from the girl at the desk, but none of them saw it. George struggled getting the key into the door.
”So, happy birthday.” Albert began but was interrupted by a kiss, a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful kiss. They didn't let go of each other for a long, long, long while.
”God I have missed you. I have missed you so much.”
”My spiffing, spiffing fellow. 16 bloody years.” he said. ”Of just letters.”
”You forget 1945, and 1936.” he buried his head in Maltravers hair, the scent was still the same.
George smiled. ”It doesn't count, we where to drunk 1936. Plus in 1945 I was so happy that you where alive I didn't even know what happened.”
Albert laughed. ”Nothing did, but still.” They kissed again, how blessed where they not. ”How are you?” he asked when he regained his breath again.
”I am doing fine, but every day is a struggle. I miss two persons every day. And since William got married...”
”I am here now, I know that is little comfort, but I am not going to leave your side until you are on that train again.”
”That is comforting, Albert.” They talked, and talked, talked long into the night. They didn't eat anything, Albert's reservation in that restaurant they had loved so much when they were 20 was probably passed on to someone else. They kissed, and cuddled, just touched each other. And George cried over his son, laughed at the other one.
”Let's go to sleep.” Albert said. They undressed each other, kissed skin and teased each other. It was soon clear that they couldn't do what they used to do, but none of them sulked about that. Like normal couples, like a man and a woman... their hands where enough.
Albert still clung to George like if his life depended on it, and he whispered Georges name, as George was trying to keep a steady rhythm. He pumped his hand while kissing Albert's neck.
It was bittersweet when they came. ”I love you.” both of them whispered, insured each other that. And George started mumbling something, but Albert drifted of into dreams full of pretty things. Like jackets with smart cuts and George with a beard, because George would look good in a beard. Very, very good in a beard.
Re: Unprompted: Blenkinsop/Maltravers - They Owe Us A Life The Cypher
And it reads: I need you, need to hold you, and to kiss you again. And then I need you to make love to me.
Greek emperor, hint at Caesar, only numbers mentioned is 5 and 6 so I guess George tried both.
I WORKED ON THIS SO YOU BETTER BE AMAZED!! No, but I just wanted to share it.
Re: Unprompted: Blenkinsop/Maltravers - They Owe Us A Life The Cypher
Fingers crossed that they do eventually get to be together.
Another great add, I will be so sad when this is all over.
Re: Unprompted: Blenkinsop/Maltravers - They Owe Us A Life The Cypher
Thank you again, and I too will be sad when... well, it's over.
