I'm not the only one who has those awkward 'Oh, you're 13/14/15/16 years old?!' moments in this fandom, right? I mean, I'm in my mid-twenties, and this is my first time in a fandom that skews towards a young demographic, and part of me is like HIDE THE PORN but then I remember what I did online as a 16 year old, and then I go and have my quarterlife crisis somewhere else.

Yeah, I'm 22, I have a full-time job, this fandom makes me feel a bit elderly.

Then again, when I was 16 I was reading rather bad Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy porn. In many ways I'd like to hope I'm passing on the torch, and that young dorks like the one I once was are continuing the tradition of getting off on things that are gratuitously silly and British. There's definitely worse things they could be reading.

Definetly - I feel so MUCh guilt for writing all the porn I can, but then, this is also probably the only fandom where there's a fill about a rat, time-sewers and superpowers xD

I'm using the "Lalalala not listening!" method for ages though, otherwise I want to hide EVERYTHING.

They're not as bad as I was at 15 though ... thank God xD

Somehow reading porn when you're 15 seems so much worse when you are 24. But my early days in fandom were epic and filthy, so I suspect going into 'hide the porn' mode would make me into a giant hypocrite.

But yes, even at 24, I do feel ancient. Especially in this fandom >.>

YOU ARE NOT ALONE. It's freaking me out a little, but then I remember it's supposedly a kids show, and also I was reading porn on the internet from about 12/13. So I'd be a hypocrite to take a high road. I just try to be more "jsyk, you technically shouldn't be doing this but I know you're going to anyway so please be careful".

When I was writing hooker fic for this last night, there was a bit of my brain that was just freaking out because 'HOLY SHIT, SELF, THIS IS A SHOW FOR CHILDREN AND YOU ARE WRITING ABOUT SOMEONE WHORING HIMSELF OUT'. It was strangely reassuring, I sometimes worry that a decade spent in various fandoms had killed the bit of my brain that felt shame like that. Obviously it has not.

I'm 23 and I was reading and writing utter filth when I was 13. Now I just feel weird thinking of any under-16s reading any of what I write!

I feel the same! Better for them to read stuff that portrays sexytime as fun and retains a sense of humour. Teenagers are going to look at stuff they shouldn't anyway, they might as well look at stuff that's a laugh instead of completely terrifying.

We can feel ancient together, nonny.

(And then laugh evilly when the teens complain about their parents having an internet curfew.)

That is a reassuring feeling, feeling that bit of guilt about writing porny porny of smutty smut for this show, because I honestly thought that I had no shame xD

Turns out I do, I'm just better at working past it for my other fandoms xD

I feel a bit reassured by my RPF GUILT ARGh, considering I've been in RPF fandoms since 2006.

Hehehe, suckers. My parents had no idea what an internet was when I started sneaking about reading porn. By the time they figured that, they figured no one had stolen my identity or tried to kidnap me yet, so I was probably fine to continue unsupervised.

My parents were more worried about the phone bill (oh, those ancient days of yore) than about what I was doing online.

I popped that particular cherry tonight. It was filthy and wonderful, but, yes, there is a rather large bit of my brain intermittently flailing and sitting in a corner rocking back and forth. Luckily, I am pre good at ignoring my brain by now.

If that means you are the author of "Carrot and Stick", just going to let you know that I'm still sitting here with a stupid grin after reading it :DDDDDDDD

See that's also helpful for me here - I tend to hang out in the ST sandbox, and I've played with politics as well, so RPF is ridiculously easy to write now xD

It took me a long to write smut for my first RPF fandom, and it's always a hurdle when I get into new RPF fandoms now. Luckily, with HH, there's always the cover of character porn!

It has taken me a long time from reading my first RPF to actually writing it. I am still freaked out that I did, but I'm sure I will be able to smother that bit of my brain soon enough.

Ha, my main fandom is Band of Brothers, I'm used to wrestling over RPF guilt, though this is still the first time I've ever written anything that could properly be termed that. And it's for a kid's show. DAMMIT GUYS WHAT HAVE YOU DONE

(In Band of Brothers fandom we all justify it to ourselves by saying it isn't technically RPF - any more than, say, stuff about the HH versions of historical figures is RPF - but being used to reconciling that in my mind does at least mean that writing about RPF about this show's actors, who actively send themselves up in behind the scenes stuff, makes me feel a lot less like I'm having a special corner of hell reserved for me.)

Historical and factual fandoms really do blur the lines of RPF...

I'm no longer in my twenties and the Internet in it's current form didn't exist when I was in my teens.
When hanging around fun stuff like this, I actually tend to forget how old I am and how old (or not) some of the people I'm interacting with through fic might be.
On the other hand, regardless of the age demographic of the show, this LJ comm is marked as suitable for over-18s only. If any younger person chooses to ignore that, it's hardly the fault of any of the older users.

My first ever fic (written in 2003!) was RPF. I think I feel more guilt about writing it these days than I did then.

It doesn't help that celebrities are so fandom-aware these days. I used to be in McFly fandom and the band members started using the pairing names themselves and I was just going NO NO STOP THAT YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T QUITE UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT MEANS OH GOD NOOOOO.

24 myself and... I apparently have no shame (hence not anoned). Much. Until my 12 year old cousin mentioned finding Alice/Martha stuff online. *dead*
