Right Jim, do you understand? I will inject you with this said Alexander saying the name of an unpronounceable drug which will render you unconscious. After 3 minutes, I will inject you with and he said something else unpronounceable which will bring you round. Is that OK?
“Yes” said Jim nervously. He wasn’t overly keen but it certainly sounded better than what had happened in Anna’s village where they’d knocked the woman out with a log
“But she could have been killed” he’d said wide eyed when Anna told him
“Well yes but what else where we to do? And anyway she was not killed and it cured the hug problem”.
It would seem that inducing unconsciousness in some way reset the bit of Jim’s brain that dealt with the hugs. The theory was that Alexander would knock him out and then bring him round again, hopefully with his brain back to the way it was before and therefore the hugs back to the way that they were before. That was the theory anyway....
“Ok Jim, are you ready?”
"are you sure man?" said Simon worridly "this does seem a bit drastic"
"simon, what else can I do?"
Simon nodded and punched his arm lightly "see you on the other side man"
"ready Jim" asked Alexander again
“yes” no, but what else could he do?
Anna took his hand as Alexander injected him “do not worry малютка (little one) I will look after you”
“Count back from 10 Jim” said Alexander
“10, 9, 8, 7...” Jim closed his eyes and slipped into unconsciousness
