They prayed, sat down and was soon served with delicious, warm food. ”Hi, I am Albert Blenkinsop.” the boy said, he didn't reach out his arm for George to grab, and shake. ”George Maltravers.” he said, and stared down at his food. Suddenly Mad-George snickered and said. ”George and Albert sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G.” Both of them immediately blushed and looked away. ”Oh be quiet!” Richard said. ”Mad-George, don't say that.” Sotherby said, very slowly. ”They are not going to kiss each other, they are just going to be great friends. ”He is completely bonkers, I tell you.” Richard said and started eating. But George and Albert just looked at each other, laughed and began to talk. They finished their meal before anyone else, and patiently waited for everyone else to finish to. Dinner took nearly 45 minutes there, at Georges old school the deal had been over in half that time. But it was rather nice to just sit there and talk with the other boys. Sotherby about the studies, Mad-George about mad things, Richard about rumors (about himself), Charles about all the darn rules and George gladly talked with whoever invited him to join.
They walked together back to the dorm, and laughed about something silly. Then they crawled up in their beds, except for Richard and Sotherby who continued to play their game of chess. (”They have been at it since last Tuesday” Charles claimed.) George tried not to think about that Albert laid in the bed next to him. (and apparently Sotherby on the bed to Albertäs left) Albert seemed to be a spiffing fellow, he was so happy and laughed a lot. He also asked questions when he didn't understand things, which made him utterly adorable. But he didn't seem to remember anything, at least not when Sotherby explained. (much later they understood that it was Sotherby's explaining that was the problem) ”So, George, why did you come here?” Sotherby asked. George swallowed. ”Well, my old school did not house the kindest of students.” he said. ”That's a shame, you who are so sweet.” Albert suddenly said. ”Yeah, you look like a lost puppy.” Mad-George said and smiled. George couldn't help but smiling himself, not for Mad-George to resemble him to a puppy, but for Albert for calling him sweet. They soon got changed for bed, the lights where to be out at 8, and breakfast served from half past six to half past seven. George almost shuddered at the though of that, but he didn't say anything. A prefect came around. ”Good night, how are you boys?” ”Just fine Rupert.” Charles said. ”Alright, how is the new boy?” ”I am fine, mister.” George said, awfully scared, because at the other school the older students had liked to play tricks on the new ones. But the prefect just nodded and checked something of his list. ”Splendid!” He said, closed the door. ”Rupert is my cousin.” Charles said, while yawning. ”He is nice, doesn't care so much about the rules.” So George just went to sleep, under the really thin blanket in the really cold room, but he felt that he found some great really friends.
