Unprompted: Fireworks - Beau/George PG [1/1]

Beau stepped out into the grounds of Carlton House. There were candles lining the paths leading towards the few seats set out on the lawn. George was beckoning Beau to hurry up.

“Come on Beau, I want to start. The orchestra are waiting.”

Beau sat down on the seat George was patting impatiently, smiling at the way his Georgie was harrumphing and puffing, although, the puffing may have just been due to George’s immense size. Beau knew full well that George was incredibly fat, but he simply saw it as more Georgie to love.

“What are the orchestra playing, Georgie?” Beau asked.

“Music for the Royal Fireworks, naturally. God Beau, you can be really thick sometimes – almost as bad as Caroline.”

“Ouch Georgie. That’s quite harsh!” Beau cried, looking hurt.

“I’m sorry Beau; you know I love you really.”

Beau’s head whipped round to look at George, his mouth a perfect ‘o’ of surprise. He was glad the darkness did the blush quickly climbing up his face, as he began to stammer out some attempt at words.

“Well, uh… Georgie that’s uh… um… I mean, certainly… well… yes… what I want to say is um… of course I lo-“

“When I say love, I mean in a manly way of course.” George cut in, stopping Beau in mid-declaration.

“Oh, of course. A manly way, obviously. I mean, you don’t actually love me. Ha ha – how silly!” Beau desperately tried to hide the disappointment he now felt. So close! Maybe another time – Georgie must realise soon.

The orchestra began to play, and the first fireworks began to shoot up to the sky, exploding far above their heads in a shower of colour. Again and again the rockets squealed upwards leaving a trail of sparks in their wake.

Beau reached out for George’s hand, and was pleasantly surprised when the Prince Regent took it.

“They’re beautiful,” he breathed. “It’s like sky glitter.”

“You’re right Beau, they are fairly fabulous. Just like me.” George puffed out his already sizeable chest as he said this. “I bet not even Napoleon has as good a firework display as me, although I expect his are pretty amazing too.”

At the mention of the detestable Frenchie, Beau dropped George’s hand.

“Hmmm…” he said.

At this moment the orchestra struck up another tune, a tune that left Beau feeling cold.

“Ah, Rule The World,” George said, clapping his podgy hands. “This will show that jumped up little general, no matter how fabulous he is.”

George turned to Beau with a beaming smile on his face, as Beau tried to force a smile back.

Beau sulked for the rest of the evening.
